Just a little sharing of thoughts…

July 29th, 2009

Well today I was spacing out at work (yeah right) and thinking about how dependent humans around the globe have become to cellphones. I remember back in 2000 mobile phones weren’t that popular, you could go out of your house for a couple days without worrying about missing a call or being isolated from others you knew.

But now, it seems like most people cant go out of their house without their phones (I include myself). We use them for so many things nowadays like checking our e-mail, taking pictures, recording video and whatnot; these things that we didn’t need to do on the go before, are now necessary for some. Does anybody remember when we used to memorize the numbers of all of our friends and relatives? Now we rely on a device to tell us those couple digits, and we don’t even look at the number anymore, we just look for the name and click dial (touch for some of us).

Do you think this will impact human intelligence and ability to survive in the long run?

*Note: Feel free to post your thoughts on this matter in a comment.

Ok now I understand… bugs <3 electronics.

July 24th, 2009

Well, this is the second time it happens, and I think bugs just love sitting on electronic boards. This time it wasnt caught inside the machine, but outside of it. I dont know what it is exactly but it sure looks like a wasp thats just chillin’ while I do my job. I was just in time to take the picture right before it flew away and right before the owner of the company passed by. iPhone/iPod Apps

July 15th, 2009

Has anyone tried out some iPhone/iPod Apps? Well, I have and in this little review I will take in consideration Pocket God by Bolt Creative which is one of my favorites.

In this app you get to be a “god” and you have little pygmies under your “supervision” and you can do pretty much all you want with them, from feeding them to a shark to throwing them into a volcano or even have them be eaten by ants. There are two islands in which you can set these little guys and find funny ways to kill them, as I just mentioned.

You can also produce earthquakes by shaking your device, cause tsunamis by moving the water, and tornados. Recently the feature of feeding the pygmies was added, so you better cook that bird (which also poops on them if you touch it in mid-air) right if you don’t want to see them choke to death

Currently the app is priced at $.99c in the Apple Store, and Im going to be honest, I hate iTunes since its so hard to sync content the way I want. But anyways, you wont get bored of this app since its a pretty good time killer and whats best, you can name the little guys. So if you hate your boss and want to see him get struck by lightning then here is your chance.

Here are some images:

And with this post we start our bi-weekly iPhone/iPod App review, so stay tuned for more, especially if you own one of these devices.

Well, will post more info about this soon, stay put for more.

Defects in electronics.

July 3rd, 2009

Some of you who may have already worked on electronic manufacturing know this, or if you dont, then I will explain a little bit.

Since I do work in electronic manufacturing, I work with the AOI Machine (Automated Optical Inspection) which actually scans a printed circuit board (with parts on it) for defects. Well the other day I was finishing scanning one board when I noticed this peculiar “defect.”
