iPhone App Review: Cydia App Store

August 3rd, 2009

Here is our second app review a little late, but nonetheless here it is.

This time is under our review is an app to get apps…

Cydia can only be obtained by jailbreaking your device, whether you own an iPod Touch or an iPhone. You can pretty much jailbreak your device (even the new 3G S) with redsn0w 0.8, if not then you’re pretty much stuck with Apple’s App Store (Might make an article about my experience on jailbreaking later). Anyway back to the point in this app you can get alternate applications that otherwise you wouldn’t be allowed to get, like an SSH terminal, themes, video apps, FLASH video app viewer, there is also a way to get apps from Apple’s App Store for free which I wont say how because then Apple will sue me, hahaha just kidding.

Cydia is well organized under sections where you can find games, themes (for each part of the phone), navigation tools, data management and other stuff. It also tells you if one of your apps has an update ready. One of the down sides is that in order to uninstall apps downloaded from Cydia, you cant do it the same way as you do with regular apps, in this case you have to access Cydia and then uninstall them from there.

Here are a few screenshots, enjoy!

iPhone/iPod Apps

July 15th, 2009

Has anyone tried out some iPhone/iPod Apps? Well, I have and in this little review I will take in consideration Pocket God by Bolt Creative which is one of my favorites.

In this app you get to be a “god” and you have little pygmies under your “supervision” and you can do pretty much all you want with them, from feeding them to a shark to throwing them into a volcano or even have them be eaten by ants. There are two islands in which you can set these little guys and find funny ways to kill them, as I just mentioned.

You can also produce earthquakes by shaking your device, cause tsunamis by moving the water, and tornados. Recently the feature of feeding the pygmies was added, so you better cook that bird (which also poops on them if you touch it in mid-air) right if you don’t want to see them choke to death

Currently the app is priced at $.99c in the Apple Store, and Im going to be honest, I hate iTunes since its so hard to sync content the way I want. But anyways, you wont get bored of this app since its a pretty good time killer and whats best, you can name the little guys. So if you hate your boss and want to see him get struck by lightning then here is your chance.

And with this post we start our bi-weekly iPhone/iPod App review, so stay tuned for more, especially if you own one of these devices.
